On Monday, September 6, our Apex and Fuquay-Varina offices will be closed. Our Cary office will be open in the morning for sick care visits only, seeing patients from all three offices. If you need to be seen on Labor Day, please call the Cary Pediatrics office to make an appointment.

As fall approaches, we get our kids ready for school and and fall sports, so those school physicals and sports physicals should be done soon!
We also prepare for the illnesses of winter. Children with asthma should have a plan going into the winter for how to prevent and handle their potential flare-ups. If you are uncertain what medications your child should be taking, or have concerns regarding the medications he or she is already on, please check in with us, so that we can help make the winter as smooth and uneventful as possible. Please bring in your child's medications when you come in for these asthma visits.

All children over 6 months of age -regardless if they have
underlying health conditions or not- are recommended to get the
seasonal influenza vaccine. We hope to be able to start administering
the vaccine after September 1st. As in previous years, we are
dependent on suppliers and shipping for when vaccine is available. And
while this season should be easier with only one vaccine being
produced, we have no control over when distributors or the state
vaccine program deliver.
Any child over 6 months and under 8 years of age who has not received two vaccines in one season is recommended to get two doses, separated by a month. This year it has also been suggested that if your child over 6 months and under 8 years of age received only a single dose of the H1N1 vaccine last year, they should receive two doses of the influenza vaccine this year. If you have questions about the vaccine, who should get one dose or two, or when your child should get the vaccine, please feel free to call and speak with one of our advice nurses.

We have added a new page with information and links about caring for your adolescent.
